And an especially big thank you to Debbie and David at SimplyART for their valuable and consistent support for Walk for Life. These donations enable the registered charity to continue to help cancer sufferers and their family members in Arboleas, Albox and surrounding areas.
The Team at Walk for Life Arboleas wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who has supported the charity. The sponsors, advertisers, donors, people who have organised events, the local shops and businesses who have displayed our posters, rattled our tins and sold our calendars and every single person who has put a coin in one of the tins, bought a calendar or attended an event. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
To our clients we wish you a peaceful 2018 and hope that we have helped you in some small way.
The ACRAA Christmas Fayre on 26th November raised €1700 for Walk for Life. A cheque was presented last week by Founder and President Christine Axelsen and committee members Ray Walsh, Bernt Axelsen, and Colin Richardson. ACRAA is a registered charity helping deserving causes across the region. In the past it has raised funds for Asprodalba, Vera Orphanage, Age Concern, Arboleas School and various animal charities.
The cheque was received by Walk for Life committee members Val Dix, Irene Barber and Trudy Sailes. This generous donation will enable Walk for life to help more people affected by cancer, particularly at this time of year; helping bring a little festive cheer to families with no other financial resource, providing translators, covering travel costs and offering a friendly hand and a listening ear to people with cancer and their nearest and dearest.
Walk for Life would like to thank the ACRAA team for all their hard work, the stall holders and Smooth FM for supporting the day and all the visitors who made the event a success.
Once again, The Incognito Singers opened their rehearsal room doors for what has become an annual event, to get us all in the mood for the festive season. This year the Friends & Family event was a benefit performance for Walk for life Arboleas. In a change from their normal tradition there was a nominal entrance charge of €2 per adult, all proceeds going to this local charity that helps people affected by cancer.
Peter Hands of The Incognito Singers said “Sadly, there are very few people who can say they do not know someone who has been struck down with this dreadful disease and the support this charity gives to sufferers and their families is second to none”. He also said they were always happy to perform for charities without any remuneration or expenses.
The event took place Wednesday 13th December at Hostal Rosaleda, Arboleas and with the entrance charge and incredible generosity of all those attending €210 was raised.
The Walk for Life team want to thank all the singers and organisers. The performance was wonderful, and the selection of traditional music has got the festive season off to a flying start.
A huge thank you to Sophia Rurador. At their Christmas party on Saturday at La Vida they had a raffle in aid of Walk for Life and raised €116.70. Without individual initiatives like this from local businesses and organisations Walk for Life couldn’t continue to help people across the area affected by cancer….and they had such fun doing it. Thank you again from the Walk for Life team.
‘Walk for Life ‘ Christmas tree decorations will be on sale from Saturday 2nd December at SimplyART on Calle Malaga in Albox.
