A fabulous day in aid of cancer research was held at the Almeria Tenpin Bowling Centre, in Arboleas on sunday the 7th February.
The day saw over 100 people bowling during the day. Members of the Amigos Club de Bowling committee, Phil Taylor, Lynda McAllister, Norma Prime and Mick Gardener heavily assisted by Sharon taylor organised the event. Contacting local busineses to sponsor bowling lanes, arranging the stall holders to set up in the centre, collecting the 50 plus raffle prizes donated by varios businesses and local people and organising entry of teams into the event.
In all, we raised 2672 euro, a large portion of this is due to the generous contribution of Almeria Tenpin Bowling Centre in donating all the income from the lane fees to the collection – some 700 euro. Our lane sponsors were : – SRS Services, Sol Supermarkercado, ALO Services, ZETA Services, FM Transport, Wavelengths, Avalon, Advanced Digital, Potty Fincas, HISPAVAN, Colin the Card and the Farmacia, Arboleas. The money was shared equally between Walk for Life and AECC (Spanish cancer charity).
The winners of the public competition were, Alan Roy and Alf, the winners of the league bowlers competition were, Dave Andrew and Mick.
We the organisers would like to thank everyone in contributing to the day. the feedback we have had and the committment by so many to raise money for cancer research and raise awareness about oral cancer is commenda ble. We will be running the same event again next year with focus on awareness about prostrate cancer.
